About the event

This full day retreat will take a holistic approach to self care and mental wellbeing and will be broken up into three sessions: Movement & Mediation, Health & Nutrition, and Art as Therapy. As well as being full of relaxation and self care, the retreat will also provide information and resources so that you will leave equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to continue these practices in your day to day life.

Yoga & Meditaion

Our day will begin with a slow guided yoga & meditation session focused on teaching how movement and meditation can be of benefit to your mental health. During the yoga session we will be guided through moves and poses that will directly benefit our mental wellbeing as well as learning why and how these movements have a positive affect on our mental health. The yoga session will include mindfulness, meditation and breathing exercises. We will provide you with a yoga matt and block that will be yours to keep at the end of the retreat.

Meet our yoga & meditation teacher Lauren...

“My Yoga journey began about six years ago – around about the time I started exploring more holistic approaches to managing my health. My degree in International Development has allowed me to live and work across the Asia region – in places where Yoga and the lifestyle it entails is prevalent. Yoga has become more than just desperate stretching with beliefs it would instantaneously heal me – it has set the foundations for how I hope to live my life – in touch with my body and in control of my mind. I have studied Yoga in India and Indonesia and have recently completed my Teacher Training in Nepal, a nation very close to my heart. I hope that in becoming a Teacher I can make Yoga more accessible to people it has excluded and to become apart of other’s holistic healing.” Lauren

Health & Nurtrition

After the yoga & meditation session we will be delving into an information session on health and nutrition and how what we put into our bodies can affect our mental health. This session will include discussion and resources around how our gut health and mental health are connected and how we can utilise nutrition for our mental wellbeing. Not only will we be learning about food and nutrition, we will be putting what we learn into action! The health & nutrition information session will be followed by a cooking class in which we will be making our own lunch and afternoon snacks using the knowledge we have gained.

Meet our Health & Nutrition coach Phoebe...

"A country gal from Tamworth, (home of the country music festival - Yee Haa!!) with a passion for music and acting, I leaped down to Wagga Wagga where I studied a Bachelor of Acting for Screen and Stage. It was here my passion grew for nutrition after witnessing a lot of my peers developing eating disorders, including myself. Getting through anorexia was a massive feat, and it was during this time I realised food was much more than calories, it was medicine – physically and mentally. My approach towards nutrition is holistic and realistic, to create positive relationships with food by listening to our bodies and to make it super fun and easy." Pheobe

Art as Therapy

In the final session of the retreat we will be exploring how creativity and arts & crafts can be utilised as a mental health outlet. We will be engaging in different Art as Therapy practices and activities that will engage our senses, body & mind. The Art as Therapy  session will provide information and resources and will include mindfullness, meditation and breathing exercises.

Meet our Art as Therapy teacher Sam...

"I founded Mossfolk as a direct result of my lived experience with mental illness after being diagnosed with Anxiety and Depression a few years ago. I began getting treatment for Anxiety and Depression and decided that I wanted to use me experience to help others living with mental illness. Before Mossfolk I had been studying and working in the creative industries for 5 years. I got my BA of Design specialising in Styling and Creative Direction and was working as a Visual Merchandiser and Stylist. I have always been a creative soul, loving everything arts & crafts! I have spent the past year studying Art Therapy and am so excited to share my skills and knowledge with you all." Sam

All materials will be included in this fact you will leave with resources and tools so that you can implement the skills and knowledge learnt throughout the day into your daily life at home. This retreat will include beverages and snacks throughout the day as well as lunch that you will be making yourself. You will also go home with a yoga matt & block, arts & crafts kit and plenty of printed resources, reccomenations and tips & tricks covering everything that we have learnt in the Self Care Retreat.

The Self Care Retreat is suitable for any skill/knowledge level and will be a welcoming and safe space for all xxx
